The owner of a bar in Chicago's far south suburbs was found dead Monday afternoon and authorities are investigating the death as a homicide.

Authorities in Kankakee County are treating the death of a rural Momence bar owner as a homicide after she was found dead Monday near her business on Illinois Route 114. A man accused in the execution-style murder of a rural bar owner is now in custody, according to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office.

Police revealed more details Tuesday after a local bar owner in rural Momence was found shot and killed “execution style” as she was opening for the day, with the suspect first demanding money from the cash register and then fleeing the scene.

The sheriff's office said Courtney Drysdale complied when Julius Burkes Jr. demanded money, but he still shot her.
