I don’t know where people got this idea that not using a reference is a sign of skill. If you don’t need one for what you’re doing that’s great and fine but if you’re attempting to capture the likeness of something you need to look at it! My skills really leveled up this year and it’s largely due to me using more references and building my own reference library. Also I’m working on a new piece to close out the year!
