Stone wool and slag wool insulation are created using the same basic processes. But stone wool uses 75% basalt rock - turning them into high temperature-resistant fibres. Slag wool insulation in turn, uses blast furnace slag as the primary component. Natural rock, particularly basalt is both highly non porous and has excellent thermal insulation properties.
